Is this one of those nifty woodpeckers that lives in the saguaro? Cornell gives me two options, the gila woodpecker and the gilded flicker. Unfortunately, they did not have a rump photo of either! So if I had to guess, I would go with the smaller gila.
Oh! Oh! I’m going to go back with my initial instinct when I first read the post – cactus wren? (But then I had to go and do research and got onto the woodpecker line of thought…)
