Scaled quail? Really? Where?!
I saw this bird right at the entrance to Chico Basin Ranch, SE of Colorado Springs, but they show up all over. We even had a few in our backyard when we first moved in, before they built all the surrounding houses. I’ve frequently seen quail at Lake Pueblo SP and east of town along the roads. The tricky part is getting a good photo. They usually hightail it as soon as they know I’m there.
