Garden Whimsy

Today is the 5th Thursday of the month, so it’s time for a break. I thought I’d post some fun garden photos I’ve taken over the last few years. No one ever said you had to be serious in your garden! I hope these put a smile on your face, and perhaps inspire you to create your own unique garden feature.

To start with, how about some ladybug garden clogs? These are so cute, I’d hate to get mud on them! One of our Colorado master gardeners was wearing these.

Whoever said patio furniture is just for people? This display was at the Denver Botanic Gardens a few years back, just inside the entrance where it couldn’t be missed. Here’s a close-up of the chair:

I think growing the cactus would be the hardest part.

Have some extra clay pots? We saw this guy right next to the highway near Austin, Texas. I yelled, “Stop!” Thankfully, my husband is fairly used to this sort of thing. A few skid marks later, I had my photos.

And finally, every garden needs a scarecrow! This beauty was guarding the Long Iris Gardens in Boulder, Colorado.

What intriguing garden ornaments have you seen lately?
