Some years ago, I found a bird whose eyes looked swollen like this bird’s, after I wiped them clean. I was able to catch it, because it had become blinded, with swollen eyes, shut. Some kind of very fast, yellowish parasite were running through its feathers. They looked like ticks, but did not behave like ticks. I couldn’t even find/catch them on the bird. Do you know anything about such a parasite? Also, here in Boulder, CO, Blue Jays are particularly abundant this year. I remember when they arrived some decades ago.
